What advantages do the bales have over loose material?
With our bales there is NO Leaching, They are easy to store, they are versatile, and most importantly they can be transported via transportation options such as flatbed trailers, rail cars, etc.
What is it made from?
Straw, hay, corn cobs, poultry, gypsum, cotton seed meal, and coca shells… ingredients used in the production of the mushroom crop – all natural, earthy, organic materials.

What does trucking cost?
Trucking varies depending on the method of transportation and the distance -

How many bales can I get on a flat bed trailer?
EXAMPLE: Bales, depending on the size weigh approximately 3,000 lbs. If your truck can carry a total wt of 43,000lbs then you can put approx. 43 bales on the truck. You may use our scale house in order to check your weight for your convenience.
Do I have to pre-order my bales?
Yes. Bales are made fresh so pre-ording is suggested but not necessary.

How do I order bales?

Can I stack them?
Yes.
How many yards in a bale?
Approx. 3.5 yards.
How do I unload the bales?
Forklift, front-end loader, skid steer loader, or any LARGE farm tractor.
Do I have to tarp the bales for transport and when storing them?
You do not have to tarp the bales but we do advise this.
How long do they store for?
Up to two years.
How do I spread this material?
By hand or compost spreader for larger applications. Spread it like you would mulch.
What hold the bales together?
High quality stretch wrap that holds the bale tightly.
How is it natural?
Simply put, all the ingredients are natural by-products of common agricultural processes (straw, hay, corn cobs, chicken litter, gypsum, cotton seed meal, and coca shells).
Is it organic?
Our bales are organic in composition but are not certified organic.
Can I use this on my grass?
Yes, this product works great on grass. (refer to Applying SMS to Lawns)
Can I use this w/ sod plantings?
Yes this product works great with sod plantings.

Can I use this for my flower beds?
Yes.
Is this material harmful or toxic?
No it is an all-natural product.
How do I use this on grass, w/ sod, garden, potted plants, various farmers crops, produce plants, vegetables, flower beds?
You can either top dress, incorporate into soil or pot just as you would a humus product
